How to Use?
How to use your standard for calibrating destructive thk measurement equip
1. Choose the same combination of deposition and substrate exactly as the one you need to measure very precisely on your components.
2. Choose standard that is close to the thickness range specified for the plated component.
3. For extra precision and reaching the true value, you may opt our GRID value standard.
4. The area defined by the black ring having internal diameter 40mm, is the area of the standard.
5. Assess thickness any where on the Spot On standard by your equipment. Tally the thickness shown by your equipment with the nominal thickness value mentioned on the standard.
6. If the value shown by your equipment is beyond +/-3.5% of the thickness value mentioned on the backside of the Spot On standard, your equipment needs to be calibrated immediately.
7. Using the calibration screw provided inside your equipment, you can reduce or increase the thickness being displayed by your equipment. Most of the times this screw is sealed by the manufacturer and the user does not have permission to play with. In such case you need to call the representative of the equipment manufacturer OR get trained from the representative for doing calibration on your own.
8. After fine tuning with the screw, you have to confirm the calibration by assessing thickness on the unused
area of standard. Again the thickness as shown by the equipment should match the thickness mentioned on the backside of the Spot On standard within +/-3.5% of the nominal value.
9. If the equipment still shows value as mentioned in point no. 6 above, follow steps 7 & 8 above, till the
nominal value of thickness mentioned on the backside of the standard is displayed by the equipment.
How to use your standard for calibrating non-destructive thk measurement equip
1. Choose the same combination of deposition and substrate exactly as the one you need to measure very precisely on your components.
2. Choose our standard for non-destructive measurement and the one that is close to the thickness range specified for the plated component.
3. For nonstandard combination you can use our metal film standards with desired metal base beneath.
4. The area defined by the plastic enclosure of the standard and exposing the plated area is the relevant area of the standard.
5. Assess thickness any where on the relevant area of Spot On standard by your equipment. Tally the thickness shown by your equipment with the nominal thickness value mentioned on the standard.
6. If the value shown by your equipment is beyond +/-2.0% of the thickness value etched on the enclosure of the Spot On standard, your equipment needs to be calibrated immediately.
7. We provide a set of three standards with different values of nominal thickness for quality calibration. Always calibrate with all the three standards. The equipment should show the thickness as per the nominal value mentioned on all the standards within the accuracy of +/-2%.
