A few recommendations
1) Always use the standard with the same combination of deposit and substrate as that of your component.
2) Choose standard that is close to the thickness range specified for the plated component.
3) If assessed on a destructive coulometric tester, see that the spot is etched completely with the substrate layer visible throughout the area of the spot.
4) Define frequency of validating your plating thickness measurement equipment and do self assessment of correctness of equipment regularly.
5) Remember that the accuracy of the equipment may deteriorate after continuous usage.
6) The accuracy of the equipment is defined only and only by the accuracy of the standard with which it is calibrated.
7) Always carry your standard to your supplier / customer whenever you need to resolve grievance on account of plating thickness.
8) Recertification /revalidation of your standard by us is essential for at least every 6 months of use.
